Major aspects in medicinal plant cultivation:
1. Identification of local medicinal plants: There are several methods for identification of medicinal plants. However the simplest, direct and least expensive method is the macroscopic method. It focuses on observing the morphological (study of Structure) and organoleptic (colour, taste, mouth feel etc.) Characters.
2. Collection and methodology: The collection part and time of all medicinal plant is not same. It is necessary to have proper knowledge regarding the maturity and use of the part.
3. Storage and preservation: Medicinal plant should be keep in cool and dry place.Good storage and preservation can extend the shelf life and remains the healing power of medicinal plants.
Processing of Medicinal Plants:
1. Collection of required parts of medicinal plants
2. Removal of any unwanted objects
3. Proper cleaning
4. Crushing/ cooking/ evaporation etc as per the nature of medicinal plant.
