Grade 7 Protection of vegetable plants from pest and diseases

Pests and diseases:
 Pests and diseases are part of the natural environment system. pests are destructive insects that eat plants, crops, vegetables, food, etc to survive. they severely damage and destroy the vegetable and vegetable plants. this can be problematic. Hence, one must save vegetable plants from these pests and diseases.

Methods of Vegetable protection from pests and diseases:
1. Healthy soil: Soil that is healthy contains an abundant amount of nutrients essential for plants and plants that have proper nutrients are more resistant to the pests and diseases.
2. Resistant varieties: varieties that show natural resistance to pests and diseases should be tried.
3. Rotation of crops: Growing the same kind crops year after year encourages many insects and diseases thus, rotation of crop is preferred to reduce insect damage.
4. Timely planting: Most of the pests appear at the same time every year thus, change the planting time as possible.
5. Companion planting: it is the method of growing one plants to protect the another plant. for eg: onions are planted near carrots to deter carrot flies.
6. Weed elimination: weed are one of the major sources of pests and diseases thus, it is necessary to remove them.
7. Cutting of infected parts: removing infected parts of plant is one of the major way of protecting remaining parts of plant from pests and diseases.
8. Traps and barriers: It involves various physical structures and traps to prevent the pest from reaching the vegetable plant.
9. Natural Pesticides: Pesticides prepared from garlic, chilli, Neem, etc. can be used for protection of vegetable plants.
10. Use of chemical: One can use various insecticides and pesticides to protect vegetable plant from pests and diseases.w
